Before / After

This weekend saw me spending some time clearing out the spare room to make way for my new lodger who is moving in next week.

Faced with a wardrobe crammed with random stuff that I'd shoved in there I started sorting it in to piles of rubbish, things that needed a new home and possible items to sell on eBay.

Whilst doing this I started thinking off all the photos that I took in the house when I was renovating it and how I'd never actually done anything with them let alone even look at them.

With all the countless DIY and property shows loving the before and after shots I thought why not post a few on here for all to see.

Drunken photo...Why?

Looking through my phone today I came across this very random photo. From the looks of the date and time it was taken on my way home after some heavy drinking this weekend.

A couple things spring to mind:-
1) Why would I take a picture of a street sign? Possibly because it was very dirty!!!
2) If I was so smashed I can't remember taking it, how did I manage to operate the phone camera at all?

Bring out the men in white coats!!!

Infrared...My Favourite Colour!!

A few weeks back I decided to pimp my compact digital camera with some accessories including a 58mm lens adapter and some filters. Having never used filters before I was specifically interested in Infrared after seeing various cool pics on Flickr such as the ones in the Digital Infrared group.

I was surprisingly impressed with my first results down the local park but aim to get out again when the sun is shining and try out some different settings.

Vinyl v Digital

Here's one thing the iPhone can't do: spin vinyl....

First came the...

Then came the mp3/iPod mixers but here is the true daddy of digital mixing. 4 Hard drive system designed by me and capable of storing over 10 billion tracks (they also come in useful as handy mirrors)!!! :-D

Kicking the Habit - 3 Weeks and Counting!

Was emptying the pockets of a jacket to wash earlier today and came across a solitary fag in one of the pockets.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted but my resolve was strong. As today is the 3 week anniversary of me quitting I decided to ceremoniously break the thing in 2.

Photo Competition

Noticed this week that the local rag is running a amateur photo competition of local life, landmarks etc.

You can submit up to 3 photos so yesterday evening I jumped on my bike with the aim of avoiding the rain and getting a few snaps down and around Salisbury Cathedral.

In general I'm looking for originality and something that will be different from all the usual tourist snaps.

Here are a few from last night. None of them really do it for me but I do like low light / long exposure shots.

I like the angle of this one.

A bit of a different take on the usual Cathedral shots. Really like the silhouette.

General low night cathedral shot.

A different view of the Cathedral - Historic building v modern traffic!

Don't you just love the old style phone boxes.

My First Ever Post!

Over the past year or so I've been actively reading various blogs on the Internet so I thought what the hell, I'll start my own one.

Not sure what it will contain yet but as I'm interested in photography no doubt there will be loads of photos posted (if nothing else).

A bit about me then to get us started. I'm Steve, a 29 year old computer engineer living in little city called Salisbury in the south of England. I really enjoy life and having a laugh with like minded people. Got a lot of time for good friends and family. As previously mentioned I'm interested in photography although still a novice I like to try out new things...see My flickr Photos.

Hope you enjoy the blog and please feel free to comment.
